The University of the
Third Age is a learning co-operative for post retirement people
from
all walks of life. The
U3A is a national organisation and registered charity.
There are over 500 branches throughout the country. Banstead
U3A was founded in 1985. It s objective is to be a university in the
original sense a community of people sharing interests and enthusiasms.
No qualifications are required and none are given. We
aim to fulfill a gap by providing accessible and stimulating
opportunities for self development at a stage in life when people can
expect to have a little more time for expanding their interests. We
have a wide range of thirty groups studying a
wide variety of interests such as languages, various arts and crafts,
reading groups, social studies, philosophy, aspects of history, bridge,
computing, table tennis, scrabble, walking and many more. Most groups meet in
people's homes, but some larger groups meet in local halls. Each year
we hold four open
meetings when we invite
speakers to speak to us on a range of topics. These meetings are held
in the Community hall Park Road Banstead If you are over 50 and are
interested in joining us you will be sure of a warm welcome.
